It looks as though Michael Douglas and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, are trying to mend their marriage after all. Douglas reunited with Zeta-Jones for Halloween and joined her while taking their children, Dylan and Carys, trick-or-treating. Zeta-Jones also joined in on the festivities, dressing up as Snow White.

The couple announced their separation in August, and it was reported that they would be filing for divorce soon after. However, neither of them have filed papers. At the time, the couple’s representative released a statement saying, “Catherine and Michael are taking some time apart to evaluate and work on their marriage.” Douglas’ throat cancer and Zeta Jone’s battle with Bipolar disorder fueled the separation causing overwhelming stress on both parties.

A source close to the couple also commented on the separation in August saying: ‘He [Michael] concluded that his marriage was over in all but name and he saw no point in continuing to live a lie. He knows it is incredibly tough on their children, but he has no intention of seeing any less of them. He’s still their father and he’ll continue to play a full part in their lives for as long as he is able. But his marriage had become a cold, dark place and he wanted out so he could find some peace.”

However, now it seems that the couple is going to try to salvage their 13 year marriage. “I’ve been away for a while, but everything should hopefully be on the up and up,” said Douglas. “Sometimes people take a little bit of a break, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the end. I’m very hopeful.” He also stated, during an interview, that things with Zeta-Jones were looking “onwards and upwards”. Hopefully things will continue to improve and the divorce conversation will be over once and for all.
