Michael Buble has come under fire for a photo he posted to his Instagram account on Monday–of a random woman’s butt. His wife, Luisana Lopilato, took the photo.
He has since sort-of apologized for the post. See if you think it was an actual apology or simply more of an explanation instead.
“There was something about this photo lu took, that seemed worthy of instagram,” with the hashtags #myhumps #babygotback #hungryshorts #onlyinmiami and #beautifulbum,” Michael Buble captioned the post.
Many Michael Buble fans expressed their dismay via social media. Most believed the “Just Haven’t Met You Yet” singer’s post was shameful.
Michael Buble had the following to say about the post to Us Weekly.
“I do not court controversy, but I realize that a photo that was meant to be complimentary and lighthearted has turned into a questionable issue,” he said. “It hurts me deeply that anyone would think that I would disrespect women or be insulting to any human being…I regret that there are people out there who found the photo offensive. That was not and is not my intention. Women are to be celebrated, loved, respected, honored and revered. I’ve spent my life believing that and will continue to do so.”
It’s only fair to mention that some of Michael Buble’s fans felt other fans were making way too much out of the posted photo. Many insisted he wasn’t body shaming the woman in the photo, and that people needed to ‘relax.’
What’s your take on the photo Michael Buble posted to his Instagram account? Do you think he set out to hurt anyone’s feelings or fat shame the woman in the photo?
And do you think his comment was an apology or simply an explanation for his feelings–or lack thereof–behind posting the picture?
