Michael Buble will host a Christmas special on NBC Wednesday evening for the third year in a row. This will be a very special Christmas for the crooner, too, as it is the first one he has celebrated since becoming a dad. He spoke with the folks on The TODAY Show Monday morning about why Christmas is such a special time of year for him.

“It’s really simple,” he said. “Mom and dad loved this (time of year) a lot and made Christmas special, and the fact that I can be invited into people’s homes all over the world to be a part of something that’s so special to them is a huge honor to me.”

And while Michael’s parents didn’t necessarily sing to make Christmas special, the way their talented son does, they still knew what it took to make their son’s Christmas dreams come true.

“Just like most here who celebrate it, (they had) a lot of love — a lot of love and joy,” he explained. “Magical is the world; they made it magical. They made it exciting and fun and so interactive. That’s what I want to recreate for my family.”

Michael and his wife Luisana Lopilato became parents this past August when their baby boy Noah was born. Buble says it’s Noah who is making this Christmas so very special.

“He’s making it special for us,” Bublé said. “It doesn’t get any better. It’s the greatest thing that’s ever happened in my life. I love that little boy so much. You know, every day is actually better — including Christmas.”

You can tune in to Michael Bublé’s 3rd Annual Christmas Special on NBC this coming Wednesday night, December 18th, at 10 PM. Guests include Mariah Carey, Mary J. Blige and even Cookie Monster. Blake Shelton, Carly Rae Jepson and Rod Stewart join in on the Christmas songs and Michael even manages to transcend time and sing with the late, great Bing Crosby.
