Meghan Linsey wasn’t crowned The Voice on Tuesday night during the season eight finale, but she did emerge the runner-up. Blake Shelton’s final contestant is likely in for a huge career change in the wake of the show however. Transforming from a country singer to a powerhouse soul singer, it will be shocking if no one signs her for a future album.
Competing against teenagers Koryn Hawthorne and Sawyer Fredericks–both on Pharrell Williams’s team–and Joshua Davis of Team Adam, Meghan Linsey was up against some stellar talent. Had the show been about actual singing skills at the end–and not about votes from the public–many believe Meghan Linsey would have won.
Sawyer Fredericks walked away with the crown, however. At just 16, the homeschooled son of a farming family in upstate New York, won The Voice. His vocals are powerful and definitely unique. But they didn’t really compare with those of Meghan Linsey.
A few years ago, Linsey penned a song called ‘Change My Mind.’ She performed it live on The Voice on Monday night, and the music video was released today.
One of the highlights of The Voice finale on Tuesday night was watching Meghan Linsey perform alongside Kelly Clarkson.
Meghan Linsey reached out to Sawyer Fredericks following his big win.
Way to go @SawyerFrdrx ! I could not be more proud of you! You are such an incredible artist!! Love you, kid 😉 #VoiceFinale

While surely no one begrudges Sawyer Fredericks winning The Voice, many believed Meghan Linsey would take the win.

Are you among those disappointed that she didn’t?
