Mariska Hargitay chatted with Seth Meyers on his late night show Monday, after having appeared in the Taylor Swift’s new music video, ‘Bad Blood,’ which premiered on Sunday at the Billboard Music Awards.

“It’s just so awesome and it makes me feel super badass,” the Law & Order: SVU star said. “I feel like my cool-factor went up with the kids and I’m really grateful, Taylor.”

Taylor Swift named one of her cats Olivia Benson, after Mariska Hargitay’s character on Law & Order: SVU. Since meeting in person about a year back, the two have become great friends.

Mariska Hargitay starred in ‘Bad Blood’ as the character Justice with another TV ‘badass,’ Ellen Pompeo from Grey’s Anatomy, by her side. Pompeo also has a feline connection to Taylor Swift. Taylor’s other cat is named Meredith Grey after Pompeo’s Grey’s Anatomy character. Swift has been a longtime fan of both actress’s shows.

So exactly how did Taylor Swift and Mariska Hargitay meet? Mariska shared the details with Seth Meyers.

“I met her at the Met Gala and I was so uncool,”she said. “She’s down there and she’s like, ‘Hi, I like your show.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, thanks.’ I didn’t know that she was like, the second coming. She was so sweet and I was like, ‘Oh, she’s so sweet,’ and I met her and was super flattered.”

They met again at an Ingrid Michaelson concert in New York.

“We both are big fans of Ingrid Michaelson and we were together at an Ingrid Michaelson concert–who’s also a friend of ours,” Mariska Hargitay explained. “We met, and she was again, so unbelievably lovely. Of course I didn’t have a ride home, but it was somewhere so far out in Queens. All of a sudden, my husband and I are like, ‘How are we getting home?’ cause there were no cars or anything.”

“She was like a little angel that goes, ‘Oh, do you guys need a ride?'” Hargitay continued. “I was like, ‘Oh no, why?’ And then she drove us home and that was the end of it… I got the text going, ‘Wanna be in my video?’ I was like, ‘Lemme check my calendar!'”

Will Mariska Hargitay consider leaving Law & Order: SVU for a career in the music industry?

Not likely.

However she’s gained some serious street cred with the younger generation. Did you see what her four-year-old daughter thinks of Taylor Swift, in the video clip above?
