Paper Mario: Sticker Star was disappointing. It nailed some of the goofy humor that the series was known for, but it just couldn’t live up to the Gamecube’s The Thousand Year Door. Salvation in Mario PRGs may be coming later this year, however, with the latest entry in the Mario & Luigi series.

Nintendo UK released a new trailer for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team that shows more gameplay than ever before, and it looks fantastic. It doesn’t try to mess with the core formula in any significant way, like Sticker Star did, while introducing silly new elements like messing with Luigi in the real world to affect the dream world. It looks like a proper return to what made a lot of us fall in love with the Mario RPG series to begin with – humor, originality and solid RPG mechanics.

Mario & Luigi: Dream Team will launch on August 11 exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS.
