Manny Pacquiao will hit $300 million in career earnings after fighting Brandon Rios on Saturday night. He will square off against Rios in Macau, China at the Venetian Macao. Depending on the size of Saturday night’s pay-per-view audience, Pacquiao could earn as much as $30 million for this fight alone.
This huge payout is fairly new for Pacquaio. He was used to scoring pittances at times as he climbed the boxing ranks. His popularity and earning power blew up big time after fighting Oscar De La Hoya back in 2008. Since then he has enjoyed a steady climb in earnings on pay day, and has propelled to the big leagues in terms of numbers of fans and overall popularity. Manny has earned more than $30 million alone for being a spokesperson for numerous corporations. Over the years he has touted the merits of products from Nike, Sony, Hennessy, San Miguel Beer, Monster energy drinks, Sony and more.
Big screen TVs are being set up in a sports stadium and near some churches in the typhoon-hit areas in the Philippines so that fans of the Filipino boxer can watch what they hope will be his great comeback match.
Even though Manny Pacquiao’s province in the Philippines wasn’t impacted by the typhoon, he has promised to bring aid to those devastated areas when he visits there following his fight against Brandon Rios. That’s certainly an excellent way for him to spend some of that $300 million he has amassed over the past several years.
Let us all hope for the victory of Manny Pacquiao. This fight is dedicated to all the victims of T. Yolanda and of course to us Filipino.
