Mannings Rapping: DirectTV Ad Resembles SNL Skit

The Manning brothers inspire strong reactions in football fans, but love them or hate them, this new commercial for DirectTV is going to have people talking.

The NFL quarterbacks do double duty in the ad, dressing up as rappers with ’80s style and rapping about the benefits of DirectTV’s Sunday Ticket App, which can be used on any mobile device. There’s lots of bad hair, cash-throwing, wild arm gestures, and even an appearance by Archie Manning. The commercial banks on the ridiculous to get its point across, and as one of the first in what will likely be a long line of early-season ads featuring players, it will no doubt be one of the most talked about.

The brothers are a little reminiscent of Justin Timberlake and Adam Samberg from their SNL short “Dick In A Box”, and though it’s probably not intentional, it’s a great way to grab the attention of potential customers.
