If you want to apply your makeup like a pro, makeup brushes can help. Makeup brushes allow you to apply your makeup easily and can give you a better finish and overall appearance.
If you are going to use makeup brushes to apply your makeup, you are also going to have to clean them in order to make sure that bacteria doesn’t grow on them.
Some makeup brushes are made of delicate materials and it can be difficult to clean them without ruining them. Here are some tips for getting your makeup brushes clean, no matter what type you use.
Clean
You can use regular soap to clean your brushes and get them looking and feeling as good as new. The soap needs to be plain white and should not have a fragrance. Bar soap works best. To clean the brush, simply get it wet and then brush it back and forth across the bar of soap. Make sure the brush becomes saturated with the soap. Use your fingers to create a lather on the bristles.
Rinse
When you feel like you have gotten the brushes clean, you will need to rinse the soap off of them. Leaving the soap on your brushes could ruin them, cause more bacteria to grow, ruin your makeup and cause skin problems. You will need to rinse your brushes thoroughly several times. Gently run your fingers along the bristles to make sure each one is rinsed and continue to rinse until there are no more bubbles or suds coming out of the brushes.

Drying
Drying your brushes properly is just as important as cleaning them. If you do not dry them properly they could become covered in mildew or fall apart. The best way to dry your brushes is to lay them in a row on a clean, dry towel. Make sure the brushes are not touching each other and that the bristles of each one are fanned out properly. You can cover the brushes with another towel or simply let them air dry. Your brushes will feel like they did when they were new.
Cleaning your brushes properly will remove any oil, residue, old makeup and bacteria that could be on them. You should clean your makeup brushes at least once a month, and more often if you use them daily.
