Like just about every gal who read the steamy novel 50 Shades of Grey, Lucy Hale also wanted to be with Christian Grey – on screen, anyways.

This prompted the Pretty Little Liars star to audition for the part of college co-ed Anastasia Steel, who becomes the object of Grey’s kinky affection.

But just like the book, the movie is set to be chock full of sexy scenes, which Hale experienced during her “uncomfortable” audition.

“It actually was just me,” she said. “It was a two-page monologue of exactly what you would think it would be.”

Hale stated she wanted to try out for the role because it was something that was different from the usual characters she plays.

“I think any girl in my demographic would have loved to be a part of it,” she said. “Mainly, I was just interested in doing something risky and doing something a little different than my character so it took me out of my comfort zone.”

Carrie Diaries actress Chloe Bridges also tried out for the role and found it to be a bit too risqué for her.

“The scene was, like, the girl telling her friends about some sexcapade she had, but it goes into extreme detail and uses the word ‘sperm’ a couple times,” Bridges stated in an interview. “I was like, ‘I don’t know guys, I have to go home to my grandparent’s house in a few months at Christmas, I don’t know if I can do this.'”

Neither Hale nor Bridges landed the role, as Dakota Johnson, the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, scored the part.

Johnson stars opposite Once Upon a Time actor Jamie Dornan, who will play the dashing, yet troubled billionaire after Sons of Anarchy actor Charlie Hunnam pulled out.
