Will Lindsey Vonn compete in the first race of the season?

We'll know Friday, according to the skier.

Vonn, who is recovering from a broken ankle she suffered in August, will resume training on Thursday – but her status for the first alpine event of the season is still up in the air.

"Excited to announce that I'm heading to Europe tomorrow and will be back on snow on Thursday," tweeted Vonn. "Just to be clear, I am still undecided on whether I will compete in the first race of the season in Solden. Will make a decision Friday."

Vonn told USA Today that it's more likely than not she'll sit the race out.

“I haven’t made any definite plans on Soelden yet. I’m going to go there, get on snow and see how I feel,” Vonn said. "It definitely would be aggressive and asking a lot of me and my ankle, but it feels really good ... I don’t want to 100% rule it out, but I’d say it’s more likely than not that I wouldn’t race.”

Vonn's ankle is another in a long line of injuries that have plagued the Olympian. She was forced to withdraw from the 2014 Sochi games due to a knee injury. But despite some setbacks the champion feels she can win the World Cup title.

She last won in 2012.
