Back in 2010, an indie game called LIMBO was released for the Xbox LIVE Arcade. LIMBO charmed gamers with its unique silhouette-heavy art style and some surprisingly violent moments that don’t seem to match the game’s early tone. The game has now spread to PlayStation 3, PC, and even PlayStation Vita. Millions of copies of LIMBO have been sold, hundreds of awards have been given to the game, and a special 3-D special edition of the game was released last summer.

Today, Playdead, the Danish developers of LIMBO, have announced the game will soon be coming to Apple’s mobile devices. LIMBO will be released for $5 on iOS next week, Wednesday, July 3. According to Playdead’s statement, the developer has been “rethinking” the game’s controls for mobile devices’ touch interfaces and “performing extensive optimizations” for Apple’s iOS. The game will work on iPads of generation two and higher, iPad Minis, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and the latest version of the iPod Touch.
