Liam Hemsworth was one-half of the breakup heard ’round the world earlier this year, but he says that these days, he’s feeling a lot more centered than he was even just a few years ago.

Miley’s ex opened up in a recent interview and said that he’s learned a lot lately, including how to be comfortable being himself, and he owes a lot of that to friend and “Hunger Games” co-star Jennifer Lawrence.

“I’m more comfortable in my own skin than I’ve ever been in my whole life,” he said. “Over the last five years I’ve learned so much. The first few years in LA were really tough and scary, but I had to figure things out for myself. What I always keep in mind is that I know what the truth is and that’s all that matters. I know I’m a good person and these days I feel like I’m more centered and grounded than I’ve ever been. For a few years I went down a path where I forgot to be in the moment and enjoy the moment. But being around someone like Jen, who is so honest and laughs all day long, I am forced to be in the right now. I’m much happier.”

It seems like Hemsworth might be in a better place than his ex, who is having success with her new album but is creating headlines and negative attention with her behavior and new post-breakup style. The couple dated off and on for several years before becoming engaged last year, and broke up this past September.
