  • While it is no surprise to anyone who has been following the NFL closely in 2013, LeSean McCoy has rushed for more yards than any other player.

The Philadelphia Eagles have led their opponents with explosive offense, and with the help of LeSean McCoy as a rusher, they have become one of the top teams in the conference.

LeSean McCoy was already the top rusher without his impressive performance last night, and he would have had to rush for -138 yards in their final game against Dallas in order to not become the league’s top rusher in the 2013 season.

In addition to his rushing title, the win against the Dallas Cowboys earned the team in a spot in the playoffs. The Eagles defeated the Cowboys after Kyle Orton threw a late interception, allowing the Eagles to win with a final score of 24-22.

While the Dallas Cowboys were able to shut down LeSean McCoy in their first meeting, the final game of the season had huge stakes for both teams and he performed with incredible results. McCoy had another 100-yard rushing game and ran for 131 yards on 27 carries.

It was the third time he had rushed for over 100 yards in the past four games, and the seventh time that he had done it during the 2013 season. LeSean McCoy finished the season with 1,607 yards, which is a franchise record. He easily beat Matt Forte, the running back for the Chicago Bears, who came in second with 1,339 yards.

The Philadelphia Eagles had an incredible season under first year head coach Chip Kelly, and finished the season with a record of 10-6.

This marks the first time that a member of the Philadelphia Eagles has won the title since 1949 when Steven Van Buren was the league’s top rusher. He broke another record of Van Buren’s when he set the franchise-record for rushing yards in a game rushing for 217 yards against the Detroit Lions.

He is also the league leader in yards from the line of scrimmage. LeSean McCoy has rushed for less than 75 yards only once since week 10, occurring in the only loss that the Eagles have suffered since week 9, a game that they lost to the Minnesota Vikings, which shocked the nation.

The Eagles have won 7 of their last 8 games, and will play the New Orleans Saints in the wild card round of the playoffs next week. Last week, in a game that they did not need to win, they destroyed the Chicago Bears with a final score of 54-11, hurting the Bears chances of making the playoffs.

The Bears lost to the Packers yesterday, forcing them to miss out on the playoffs yet again.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the top rushing team in the league, and coming into last night’s game, the team averaged 161.9 rushing yards per game. The power of LeSean McCoy has led the dominant Eagles to the playoffs as the top team in the NFC East.
