As most athletes hope to do, LeBron James has made a habit of winning. Whether it is winning his fourth NBA MVP award or his second championship with the Miami Heat, he seems to like repeating his accomplishments.

With this in mind, it should come as no surprise that he was awarded his second straight Best Male Athlete ESPY last night.

James won the award despite stiff competition from Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers, and Aquaman himself, U.S. olympic swimmer Michael Phelps. The level of athletic excellence in the category was not lost on James, who observed, “To be in a category with All-Day AP, the Triple-Crown winner, and the human fish, it’s an honor.”

In leading his team to a title repeat and adding another MVP to his mantle James shone just a little bit brighter than his fellow sports stars, at least in the eyes of the ESPYs committee.

James also added the awards for Best NBA Player and Best Championship Performance while the Heat were awarded Best Team and Best Game for their epic battle with the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6 of the NBA finals.

While King James was also the undisputed king of the night, he took a backseat to Robin Roberts, a longtime television journalists and former ESPN anchor who received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award for contributions that transcend sports. Roberts received the award for her pioneering work in journalism despite battling life-threatening illness.

Not surprisingly, James also introduced Roberts, showing that he can do a little bit of everything on, as well as off of the court.
