  • Lamar Odom has survived a near-death experience and will soon begin physical therapy. It’s as yet unknown how much damage his recent accidental overdose did to both his body and his brain.

One thing that’s not unknown, however, is Khloe Kardashian’s devotion to Lamar Odom. She has vowed to stay by his side every step of the way, and that reportedly includes the months of rehabilitative therapy that lies ahead.

Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian both signed their divorce papers this summer, but the divorce isn’t yet final. Khloe put off signing the papers for more than a year. She still loves Lamar and believed she could somehow save him from himself.

Emerging from a coma on Friday, Lamar Odom spoke to Khloe Kardashian briefly. CNN reports he spoke to her again on Monday morning, saying, “Good morning,” to her before going back to sleep.

Jim Harrick is one of Lamar Odom’s former coaches. He is far more hopeful now than when Lamar was first hospitalized.

“We’re more hopeful now” that Lamar will recover, he said. “We’ve been on pins and needles for days.”

Harrick thinks Khloe Kardashian might be the key to Lamar Odom’s survival.

“I just came to fall in love with her,” he said. “She’s a sweet, loving, lovely young girl. I think she’s a rock. She’s the best thing that ever happened (to Odom).”

Harrick said he wanted to “go over there” and “smack him” to let him know how incredible Khloe is.

Odom needs to “get on the right path again,” Harrick added.

Perhaps this near-death experience and the love and devotion of Khloe Kardashian, Lamar’s kids, his aunt, his former coach, and the many players who have visited him and prayed for him, will show Lamar Odom that lots of people are on his side.

Will this be enough for him to seek rehab for his drug problems? If not, he will surely revisit last week’s scenario again–and he might not be so lucky if there’s a next time.
