Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell are set to star in a Lifetime parody film to honor the 25th anniversary of Lifetime TV movies. A Deadly Adoption will air on June 20th. Ferrell had viewers believing the project had been scrapped.
News of the upcoming parody hit the media back in April, but Will Ferrell quickly announced that because word had leaked, the project was shut down. He blamed the internet.
“We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public,” he said in a statement to Entertainment Weekly. “Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”
That was apparently nothing but a big joke on Will Ferrell’s part, and Kristen Wiig went along with it, never admitting to the media that the show would still go on.

The two-hour long Lifetime movie stars the SNL alum duo as a couple who both houses and cares for a pregnant woman in hopes of adopting her baby. In keeping with the tradition of all Lifetime films–and hyping the parody–things quickly go awry.
Jessica Lowndes, known for her role on CW’s 90210 also stars in the film.
Early reviews for A Deadly Adoption say it is ‘campy’ and ‘fun.’ That sounds about right for both Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell.
