Kim Kardashian may not have had a lasting marriage to husband Kris Humphries, but one good thing has come of it: her enormous, $2 million engagement ring, which has been auctioned off with a portion of the proceeds going to charity.
The ring is a blingy 16.21 carats in the center, with two diamonds on the side totaling 1.8 carats. Kardashian reportedly paid for the ring herself, but the auction didn’t fetch quite as much as she paid; with Christie’s Auction House’s fees, the buyer only ended up paying $749,000.
“Kim has been waiting for the day he would auction it,” a source said. “Everyone always asked what Kim did with the ring — she silently gave it back over a year ago! And Kris waited until the divorce was final to sell it.”
Humphries and Kardashian have had a famously bitter divorce battle, with the basketball star trying desperately to prove their marriage was a sham in order to gain ratings for “Keeping Up With The Kardashians”, and Kim’s relationship–and subsequent pregnancy–with Kanye West didn’t help the situation. The couple filed for divorce just 72 days after their marriage, and it was finalized this past May.
Kim has been getting some attention lately after losing a substantial amount of post-baby weight, and says she’s following the Atkins diet, which consists of lots of protein and barely any carbs.
