Killzone: Mercenary is the first of two big Vita titles hitting Sony’s handheld in the latter half of 2013. It promised to bring the console Killzone experience to a handheld, and it seems to have succeeded. Now Sony is ready to ship the game to Vita gamers who want a mobile first-person shooter that’s not terrible.

In a launch trailer released today, Sony shows off some new areas from Killzone: Mercenary. It also details some of the graphical tricks the team at Guerilla Cambridge used to create what is possibly the prettiest game on the Vita.

If you need an idea of how good the game is, it’s currently sitting at a Metacritic score of 78. The highest score is a perfect score of 100 and the lowest score is a 55. Regardless of the score, most critics seem to agree that it’s the best shooter yet available for the Vita. Granted, that’s not a hard thing to do.
