Kendall Jenner decided last year that, although she loves her family, she wanted her budding modeling career to be hers and hers alone.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians reality star turned model told Allure magazine that she didn’t want to see her family sitting in the front row, or anywhere else in the house for that matter, as she walked the runway for the first time in Marc Jacobs show last year.
“I didn’t need it to be a family affair,” she told the magazine recently for its March cover story. “As selfish as this sounds, I wanted the attention to be on me for five seconds rather than my family.”
Nineteen-year-old Kendall Jenner said she just knew which of her family member’s would receive the most attention had they attended her first show.
“If they were sitting front row, it would have been all about, ‘Oh, Kim goes to Kendall’s first fashion show!'” said Kendall Jenner.

Beyond her need to stand on her own two feet, Kendall Jenner does love her sister and wants to be taken just as seriously in her career.

“I love Kim, but for a minute I wanted it to be like, ‘OK, this is [Kendall’s] thing—she’s taking it seriously.'” she said.
And yes, she does pay attention to her big sister’s advice.
“I have a really weird thing about ‘forever.’ And my sister Kim always said, ‘Don’t put a bumper sticker on a Bentley.'” she added.
