Of course Kendall Jenner was going to become a model. The Kardashian clan don’t raise politicians. But It looks like the 19-year-old is surprising everyone with her in-demand career, even mom Kris Kardashian.

Kendall Jenner recently landed two coveted modeling gigs — one as the face of Estée Lauder cosmetics, and now it was just announced that she will appear in the spring 2015 ad campaign for the Karl Lagerfeld collection.

Jenner met fellow Estée spokesmodel Joan Smalls backstage at a fashion show when she was just getting started. Of course, “just getting started” for Kendall was Marc Jacobs’ Fall 2014 runway.

It turned out Kendall and Smalls were wearing the same dress. Now they’re chatting away about Kendall’s latest big career moves with Estée.

“I was so excited,” Kendall said. “I found out backstage in Paris and they told me I couldn’t say anything. So I saw the text and I was like, ‘Oh my God! I have to keep this to myself.’ When I got to my room I started freaking out.

“Yeah, my mom was the only person I told,” she continued. “She was crying, but then she cries at everything.”

Landing the Karl Lagerfeld gig was a huge feather for Kendall, especially since she got Estée Lauder and Lagerfeld in the same week.

Kendall must have really wowed Lagerfeld. He had her walk the Chanel couture show this summer by special request. Now they’re signing contracts.

But the Estée work is a natural fit for Kendall. She’s been around it all her life.

“I’ve grown up with Estée,” she told Smalls, “that was all my mom would use. I remember the old lipstick cases that were gold and mirrored. It’s such a family brand for me because it’s been there my whole life so it is crazy to actually be doing this today.”

Kendall’s fashion sense was honed over her entire childhood.

“My older sisters went to a makeup school when they were younger, so they’re all really good at it,” she said.

Kendall’s sister Kylie is so good at it that she recently had a whole bunch of plastic surgery professionals fooled into thinking she had lip injections.

As far as whole Kendall looks up to: “Angelina Jolie. She’s just ridiculously beautiful.”
