The year 2013 has been pretty good to singer Katy Perry. Not only has she made her relationship to pop-rocker John Mayer official, she also released her fourth album “Prism,” which includes the popular and ubiquitous song “Roar,” her 8th No. 1 single.

And the way things are shaping up, 2014 might be pretty good to her too, as the queen of pop Madonna, has hand-picked Perry to be curator for the “Art for Freedom” project. Perry made the announcement via her Twitter page. “Honored to be curating ‘Art for Freedom w/ Madonna,’ ” she wrote. “Make a year of social change submit your art at “ArtForFreedom.com.”

Art for Freedom was started by Madonna and photographer Steven Klein in an effort to bring more awareness to human injustices around the world. People have the opportunity to submit works of art that center around the question “What does freedom mean to you?”

Each month Madonna, Klein and sometimes a celebrity curator will choose one submission and donate $10,000 to a non-profit organization of the artist’s choice. Perry will do the selecting for the remainder of January.

Every day. curators pick one artist and feature their submission on the site’s homepage. Madonna launched the project with the release of her short film “Secretprojectrevolution” in September of 2013.

The 17-minute film opens up with the “Like a Virgin” singer behind bars, then she makes her way over to a bunch of scantily clad models and shoots them all. In the background you can hear applauding from an audience, which is supposed to symbolize the world’s tolerance for violence and the number of people that are desensitized to it.

In other Perry news, the singer has just been added to the lineup of the 56th Annual Grammy Awards, which will also include acts like Daft Punk, Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams and Metallica. The show will be held on Sunday, January 26, at 8:00 pm (EST) on CBS.
