Kathy Griffin was officially announced as the replacement for the late Joan Rivers on E!‘s red carpet series Fashion Police.
The series set the standard in “diss and dismiss” when it comes to celebrity award show fashion.
A big part of the show’s success was peerless insult machine Joan Rivers.
However, when Rivers passed away, it seemed there would be no one either willing or capable of filling in for the bold comedienne.
Kathy Griffin seems like the most promising of suggested choices.
For one thing, Griffin seems to fall into a brand of humor not too dissimilar to Joan.
Kathy is known for her brand of harsh, biting, unapologetic humor. Perhaps aside from Rivers herself, Griffin is most known for being able to “go there”.
As such, Kathy Griffin was likely always at the top of the list to replace Rivers.
But it’s not a challenge to be taken lightly, and Griffin revealed during the announcement that she understood she had “big shoes to fill”.
“Joan was truly one of a kind. Now I hope you will accept me for me,” said Griffin. “I’m just Kathy. Did I say, ‘I’m just Kathy’? I meant, ‘I’m Kathy F***ing Griffin and you celebrities better strap yourself in, as I am taking no prisoners’.”
It won’t be until January, when the Fashion Police covers the Golden Globes that we learn whether or not Kathy Griffin can deliver on her promise.

Or was that a warning?
In any case, Kathy Griffin will not be going it alone. Also returning for the new season of Fashion Police are Kelly Osbourne and Giuliana Rancic.
Griffin also won’t be the only newcomer to the series: The show is expected to welcome fashion stylist Brad Goreski of the former Bravo reality series It’s A Brad, Brad World.
