Katharine McPhee and husband Nick Cokas are reportedly working on their relationship after a brief split following a cheating scandal last year.

The “Smash” star was caught on film kissing the married director of the show, Michael Morris, last fall and subsequently separated from Cokas; Morris and his wife reportedly split for a while too, but have since reconciled. McPhee and Cokas were spotted over the weekend, walking their dogs together and looking happy.

Rumors circled the web that the couple had been having problems for months before the indescretion, but McPhee hasn’t commented on what happened and has been quiet on social media sites since the photos were posted online.

“They’re working on their marriage and spending a lot of time together,” a source told People. “They’re trying to start again.”

Mary McCormack, Morris’s wife, was reportedly shocked by the revelation that he was unfaithful and had enjoyed a happy marriage until that time.

“Mary adores her husband. If this is true, she would have been blindsided,” a source said. “She is the most devoted mother and wife.”

As for McPhee and Cokas, the couple put starting a family on hold while she focused on her career, which some say led to a strain on their marriage.

“I once thought that by now I’d have lots of children, but actually I’m really enjoying being able to go from point A to point B and the only worry I have is have my dogs been walked,” she said. “I’m selfish right now, but that’s how and where I should be. The thing is, work is the thing I love the most.”
