The movie, The Face of an Angel, is going into full swing during the midst of the actual retrial of Amanda Knox, which has caused some to worry that there is a potential for actors in the movie to experience an insane, unprecedented level of attention. However, the movie’s main star (the talented Kate Beckinsale) is not deterred by the intense level of attention.
The actress is popular for starring in the Underworld movies (Underworld: Evolution, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, and Underworld: Awakening) where she was famously clothed in latex.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Beckinsale said, “Don’t think I haven’t had my share of nutters. I’ve worn latex head-to-toe in three movies, after all.”
Kate Beckinsale has kept herself abreast of the real-life Amanda Knox trial, and spoke about her own fascination with the case. “I had quite a strong opinion on it, but then the more books I read, the more opaque it felt. It’s very intriguing. The script was not what I was expecting,” she said.
Many wondered what had attracted the popular actress to the controversial role; however, Beckinsale shared the allure to play in such a film. “Playing a bright woman is always a relief. I try to change tack often between big splashy action movies and smaller independent films.”
If Beckinsale, who will play American journalist Barbie Latza Nadeau, is not hindered by the potential for “nutters” or the overwhelming controversy surrounding the case, then what may have possibly deterred her from the role?
“I can’t actually drive, but then I got a call from my manager to say ‘can you learn to drive in the next four days?’ I don’t think it would be a very good idea. I’d probably end up killing myself and others, especially in Rome. Maybe if it was Arkansas or somewhere it would be less daunting,” Beckinsale said.
Fortunately, fans of the beloved beauty will see Beckinsale portray Barbie Latza Nadeau while Italian drivers pick up the slack for the driving scenes.
