Kat Von D has a makeup line and a new lipstick in that line has come under fire. Sephora, the beauty retail chain that sells her line has been criticized for selling it, too. So what’s the complaint about the lipstick? Kat Von D has named the color ‘Underage Red.’

It seems some people believe the name suggests something inappropriate–either underage girls trying to appear sexy or older women trying to look like they’re underage.

Sephora listened to the complaints and removed Kat Von D’s Underage Red lipstick from their stores, and they stopped selling it online, too.

Kat Von D, whose real name is Katherine von Drachenberg, is probably best known for her work as a tattoo artist. Her TV show LA Ink ran for four seasons. She was previously engaged to Sandra Bullock’s ex-husband Jesse James.

What do you think of the name Kat Von D chose for her lipstick? Do you believe the name is suggestive?

And what’s your take on Sephora pulling Underage Red lipstick from its shelves and online market?

Does the initial marketing of this lipstick reflect poorly on Kat Von D or Sephora?
