Grand Theft Auto V wowed gamers this year with its massive video game representation of Los Angeles and its surrounding areas. The fictional Los Santos, however, doesn’t hold a candle to the sprawling islands of Panau, the setting of Just Cause 2. Players in that game can take several minutes crossing the game map in the game’s fastest vehicle – a fighter jet.
Though Grand Theft Auto V has an official multiplayer mode in Grand Theft Auto Online, Avalanche Studios developed Just Cause 2 with only a massive single player campaign in mind. PC gamers, however, have never been deterred by a lack of official support, and version 0.1.0 of the multiplayer mod for Just Cause 2 has officially been released.
The mod can be downloaded through Steam and allows thousands of players to co-exist in a single instance of Panau. Players can race against each other, kill each other, and team up to accomplish whatever they can imagine.
As if that wasn’t enough, every player in the world has access to the ridiculous, near-broken grappling hook, car-surfing, and parachute mechanics seen in the single player game. That means players have the tools to create some spectacular moments both in the air and on the ground as players engage each other in some chaotic, creative situations.
The makers of the multiplayer Just Cause 2 mod today released a trailer for the add-on. It shows off some of the chaos, violence, and fun that inevitably results when thousands of players are packed into a sandbox game full of explosives:
