June Shannon, the matriarch of one of TLC’s most famous families, has opened up about her first sexual experience in the wake of an abuse scandal involving her daughter Anna.

The reality star says that her first experience with sex at the age of 12 and that she gave birth to her first child when she was just 14.

“I was dating men who were in their 20s, 30s, my mom knew about it. I would kind of lie and say they were 21, 22. When me and Mark started dating, I was 20 and he was 38. There was an 18-year age difference,” she said. “I don’t think that my sexual experiences at a young age makes anything different than what Anna went through. It doesn’t make it any better.”

Shannon has admitted recently that she formed relationships with two men who were convicted sex offenders, one of whom–Michael Anthony Ford–is reportedly the biological father of her daughters “Pumpkin” and Jessica. The other man, Mark McDaniel, is accused of molesting her oldest daughter Anna. Shannon says she only recently found out about the alleged sexual abuse and claims she was away from the home when it happened.

Shannon was recently accused of renewing a relationship with McDaniel–which ultimately led to the cancellation of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo–but she says she’s only seen him twice since he was released from jail, and one of those times was a coincidence.

“There’s some truths and there’s some lies that’s out there, and there’s the truth between that,” she said.
