For the first night of the two-part Dancing with the Stars finale, judge and former professional partner Julianne Hough managed to impress with a revealing but classy black number. Hough and the show’s stylists talked to People about the look that made the audience turn their heads.
“We went back and forth with what direction to take this black dress,” Hough said of the dress. “On one hand, it’s very classic and Audrey Hepburn-feeling, but on the other hand it’s edgy, daring and strong. So we did the logical thing: We did a little of both and came up with the ‘Naughty Audrey!’”
Stylist Anita Patrickson added, “It’s as simple as the choices we made. Opting for a simple conservative pearl earring that is covered in gold spikes and backed with a studded ear cuff. The simple classic black dress with the daring sheer skirt and keyhole cut in the bodice. Sometimes the fun comes in the subtle details!”
Hough announced back in August that she will be returning to the show that made her famous, but this time as a judge. Hough joined the tribunal comprised of Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli as a fourth judge. Julianne’s brother, Derek, has stayed on the show to become Dancing with the Stars’ winningest dancer. He has won the mirror-ball trophy five times now.
In a statement released by Hough when she signed on for the latest season of Dancing with the Stars, she said, “I’ve always aspired to be an all-around entertainer, whether I’m acting, dancing or singing, and I’m thrilled for this opportunity that will allow me to continue all of those pursuits. Derek and I just finished our Move Live on Tour, which reminded me how much I miss the interaction with the dance fans that have been so supportive of me in my career. I am warming up the paddles and the sass, and I’m ready to have fun in this new role.”
