  • As the 52-year-old actress made her way to the stage to receive her Outstanding Leading Actress in a Comedy award for her role as Vice President Selina Meyer on HBO’s “Veep”, at Sunday night’s Emmy Awards, Tony Hale — who plays the vice president’s personal aide, Gary Walsh on the show, snuck up behind her. His job was to hold her clutch and stand by her side whispering important information in her ear as she delivered her acceptance speech. Just like on the show, he was there to remind her to thank her family, and feeding her lines such as, “I love them so much.”

This is the second year in a row that Louis-Dreyfus takes home the Emmy for playing for her role in “Veep”. Her victory brought her second straight Emmy win for her work on “Veep”. It was her fourth overall win and her 16th nomination.

“It means a ton because I’ve actually lost many, many more times the I have won,” Louis-Dreyfus said in the press room after her win, according to E!. “I’ve lost ten times as a matter of fact and so it is delicious to win.”

Co-star Anna Chlumsky got in on the joke, too as she appeared bored and texting during Louis-Dreyfus’ speech.

Earlier in the evening, Hale won his own award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series award for his role as her very attentive and hovering aid in “Veep”.

Louis-Dreyfus ended her speech by thanking the HBO show’s entire cast. Well, almost the entire cast. She forgot to mention fellow Emmy winner Hale, who didn’t seem to mind, giving her a thumbs up after she wrapped her speech! Who says you can’t find decent help anymore?
