Josh Duggar Scandal Could Be Bigger Than We Know

  • Josh Duggar resigned from his high-profile job at the Family Research Council, lost his well-paying gig on the hit reality show 19 Kids And Counting, and alienated friends, family and fans after news broke earlier this year that not only did he sexually molest several underage girls as a teen (including some of his sisters), he cheated on his wife Anna through the hookup site Ashley Madison. Now, Dr. Phil says he believes the Duggar scandal is even bigger than anyone realizes, because the whole truth hasn’t come out yet.

“What I’m really concerned about with regard to that. We have not seen the bottom of that yet. My dad used to say that for every rat you see, there’s 50 you don’t. To assume that everything you see is everything there is, would really be naive. I just don’t believe that the whole truth has come out yet,” Phil told the panel of The View.

The Duggar family issued a statement after Josh’s name and email address was leaked in the Ashley Madison hack, saying that he had brought shame to their family and was seeking counseling in a long-term rehabilitation center. It’s believed to be the Reformers Unanimous in Rockford, Illinois, a place reportedly much like the facility he attended after he molested his sisters at the age of 14.

TLC removed 19 Kids And Counting from their lineup almost immediately after news broke of Josh’s molestation scandal, and although rumors have flown that they were to extend an offer to Jessa and Jill Duggar for their own spinoff, nothing has come of that yet. Instead, the network aired a one-hour special last month focusing on victims of sexual abuse which featured Jill and Jessa, who confirmed to Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly earlier this year that they were two of Josh’s victims.
