Joey Feek Shares Bittersweet Dance With Husband Rory as Cancer Ravishes Her Body

Joey Feek is growing more physically fragile with the passing of each day, yet her spirit is growing stronger. One-half of the country/bluegrass duo known to fans as Joey + Rory, Joey Feek was diagnosed with cervical cancer shortly after giving birth to daughter Indiana back in 2014. It was only weeks ago that Joey and husband Rory Feek decided to end cancer treatments, and bring Joey home with hospice care.

Rory Feek has documented the painful process of watching his wife battle this horrendous disease via his blog, This Life I Live. Last week Rory described a bittersweet dance he shared with Joey.

“A few days ago, on the last day Joey walked, I took her in my arms in the living room and once more put her hand in mine and we danced,” he wrote. “She steadied with her cane and I softly moved her across the room singing George Strait’s “You Look So Good In Love” in her ear. In the middle of the song though, as I was being careful not to step on her toes–she stopped and looked up at me and said, ‘How about if I lead?'”

That lead is so typical of the strength Joey Feek has displayed throughout her cancer battle. Though she has had moments of weakness in the past couple of weeks–like when she cried because she so desperately wants to raise their daughter–she has also had moments of unimaginable strength, too.

Rory and Joey Feek announced before Thanksgiving that they will release their new album–despite Joey’s illness–on Valentine’s Day. The album is filled with traditional hymns that Joey Feek has long wanted to record.

Whether Joey Feek makes it to the Joey + Rory new album release or not remains to be seen. If she doesn’t, the album will serve as a tribute to the woman family members, friends, fans–and most importantly Rory and little Indiana Feek–so dearly love.
