Joey and Rory Feek–better known in the music world as Joey + Rory–are celebrating yet another victory in the face of Joey’s cancer. The new album the country/bluegrass duo released almost two weeks ago, “Hymns That Are Important to Us,” has reached number one on the Billboard Country music charts.

“When the label called to give us the news I immediately took the phone in to Joey,” Rory said in a press release. “This recording was ‘hers’ from the beginning. This is one that she has always wanted to make, and she’s worked so hard to make it happen, in spite of the difficult circumstances she is facing. As I congratulated her, she responded through tears, ‘No, Honey, this is God’s record….'”
In addition to that bit of good news, Joey and Rory also learned their album topped both Billboard’s Contemporary Christian Album and Christian Video charts.
Joey Feek is growing weaker by the day. Diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014, she has been at her childhood home in Indiana under hospice care since early fall. Some of the tracks on their album were recorded in a hotel room near where she underwent chemotherapy and radiation treatments last summer.
