Jim Parsons won the award for Best Actor In A Comedy Series again last night during the presentation of the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards. Since shows like 30 Rock and Arrested Development have ended, their nominees will not have any more chances to win the award. This marks the third time that Parsons has won an Emmy for his role on the show.
Parsons plays Sheldon Cooper on The Big Bang Theory, a very popular show with both critics and audiences. He beat out some tough competition this year in order to get his third award, including Alec Baldwin for his role as Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock and Louis C.K. who essentially plays himself in a sitcom called Louie especially, which have both won over audiences. The other nominated actors were Don Cheadle for House of Lies, Jason Bateman for Arrested Development, and Matt Leblanc for Episodes.
#EMMYS: Hey, Jim Parsons, you just won. What are you going to do now? "I prefer to (go home) & read in bed. That's because I'm 100."

He got emotional during his speech, and the openly gay actor even gave a special thank you to his boyfriend, Todd Spiewak. He gave a really heartfelt speech, and the camera panned over to his co-stars in the audience who were all fighting back tears. After rattling off the names of his costars, family, and manager, Parsons gave one last shout-out to his love of more than 10 years, mentions US Weekly. He humbly spoke into the mic when saying, “Thanks to my favorite person on the planet, Todd Spiewak,” during his touching speech. The couple have been together for more than a decade.
The Big Bang Theory is a show that follows the adventures of Sheldon and his geeky friends, while it is currently the most popular comedy on TV, according to the Los Angeles Times. The show also stars Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki. Last season was also its highest rated season to date, earning the series a total of seven Emmy nominations, including one for Best Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actress, which Mayim Bialik lost to Merritt Wever from Nurse Jackie.
The series is getting ready to head into its seventh season and will premiere on Thursday, September 26.
