Last week Randy Moss worked out for the New Orleans Saints where it was reported that he “looked like the old Randy“. On the heels of that report Moss is taking his talents to the Bay area where he’ll work out for the San Francisco 49ers today, but one interesting factoid is that he’ll be catching passes from his possible future coach — Jim Harbaugh.
49ers CEO Jed York tweeted early this morning that Jim “Captain Comeback’ Harbaugh, would in fact be the one who will be throwing passess to Moss at the workout.
#49ers tomorrow. Just to clarify, Coach Harbaugh is turning into Capt Comeback to throw to Randy Moss
Former Colt Pro Bowl QB throwing forIt should be noted that Harbaugh was an NFL quarterback for 13 seasons, and Alex Smith cannot throw in a workout until the new league year starts, which is Tuesday at 4 PM E.T.
News of this NFL workout oddity, which has the head coach throwing to a potential receiver, sparked the interest of numerous Twitterers:
Moss to catch passes from Harbaugh during 49ers workout because Alex Smith is unavailable, so it will feel just like a regular season game.
I can confirm that a certain former Colts Pro Bowl QB will be working in San Francisco this year…Jim Harbaugh!
So Jim Harbaugh gonna be throwing to Randy Moss? This is going to be televised right? Let’s see if he still has it
jim harbaugh is throwing to randy moss today… is he trying out for the team too?
The news even had NFL Insider Adam Schefter commenting on the workout.
@JedYork: Coach Harbaugh is turning into Capt Comeback to throw to Randy Moss.
Quite the unique way to conduct a tryout today. RT#49ers announce head coach Jim Harbaugh, a former pro bowl quarterback, will be the thrower in Monday’s workout with WR Randy Moss.
