Jill Duggar had big plans for Mother’s Day. But what really blew her away was the enormous difference between last Mother’s Day and this one.
“It is so crazy that last Mother’s Day, I wasn’t even married,” Jill Duggar told People. “And now I’m a mom. It is still surreal to me that I’m a mother.”
Coming out of the mouth of many women, that might sound like an admission of a fast lifestyle. But Jill Duggar is one of the many stars of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting, married her beau Derick (heh) and kissed him for the first time in June of last year.
Ahead of the plans for the day, Jill Duggar said she was planning on spending the Sunday holiday in quite typical Duggar fashion: at church.
“I’m sure it will be fun. First, Israel will be dedicated at our church, which is just an outward statement where we say we want to raise our child to love God and the church supports us in that. Then, we’ll spend time with Derick’s mom and his family and we may get to see my family, too.”
Jill Duggar is trained as a midwife. Her experiences there, as well as her own personal experience now as a mother, has given her an even deeper opinion about parenting than she was raised with.
“I am so blessed to be a mother,” she says. “There are a lot of ladies who would love to be and can’t. My heroes are my mom, my grandmother, Derick’s mom and those people who have been mothers for a while. I just pray I can be like them, Godly mothers who are loving and always caring for others.”
If tabloid stories are to be believed, it is only those mothers who “properly” conceive their babies within wedlock that get the high opinion of the Duggar clan. The Daily Mail reported that Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar forbade Jill from helping a cousin who was pregnant because the woman had conceived the baby without being married.
