Up and coming pop sensation Jhene Aiko has been getting more and more attention since she started working with rapper of the moment Drake.
And since their collaborations, she’s been romantically linked to him, of course, because sometimes it’s hard for the media to focus on a female entertainer’s individual accomplishments. Instead, some would rather discuss who that person is sleeping with or dating–that’s just the way things are.
But Aiko says her connection to Drake is purely musical and nothing else, and in time, she hopes to do an entire album with him.
“I think that he (Drake) is probably like my musical soul mate,” she said. “Wow. I said it. Musical, though. I just feel like our voices complement each other, our writing styles, all of that. So I would love to do like a full project with him. I think that it would be really dope.”
Additionally, Aiko says that her debut full length album is already completed, and right now she’s just waiting for the right time to release it, because with tons of new projects being put out daily, it’s easy for fans to overlook new material.
Plus, Aiko says that she currently doesn’t have any guest features on her upcoming album, but that may change before it gets officially released.
“I did the album and it just shaped up to be all me,” she explained. “With the EP, I left room for features just cause I wanted it to be that type of project. But for the album, I just didn’t leave room for anybody cause I have a lot to say. I just wrote the songs from top to bottom. But, if someone hears a song and feels like they can contribute and it makes sense, then I’ll definitely make room if they can do it before the summer.”
It’s obvious that Aiko doesn’t want anyone to slow down the release of her full length LP, which is why she doesn’t seem to care about snagging big names, and it’s safe to say that the 25 year old will be all over the place by this time next year, because she’s been the talk of the music industry for quite some time.
