  • Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake have settled a lawsuit against the British tabloid, the Heat. Score one for the celebrity couple.

Biel and Timberlake filed suit in Ireland against the tabloid a few weeks ago. “We have issued defamation proceedings on behalf of our clients, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel, in relation to an article and a headline in Heat magazine,” their attorney, Paul Tweed of Johnsons Solicitors, said, “We are suing in Ireland in relation to publication in all jurisdictions, as our clients are entitled to do.”

Now that the lawsuit is settled, the celebrities and their lawyers couldn’t be happier. “Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are very satisfied with this categoric retraction of what was a false and unfounded story, together with the comprehensive apology from Bauer Consumer Media, the publishers of Heat magazine,” Tweed said according to the Press Association, “The couple will not be making any further comment in relation to this matter, but will not hesitate to take similar legal action if false allegations regarding the state of their marriage are repeated.”

As apologies go, Bauer made their’s legal sounding. “The Defendant accepts that the article was false and withdraws any inferences that questioned the state of Justin and Jessica’s marriage,” their statement said according to MTV, “The Defendant regrets any embarrassment caused to the couple and unreservedly apologises to them.”

What is next for the couple? According to some, a baby might be on the way. Nothing official has been announced, just media sources speculating from Biel’s body shape.

Tabloids of the world had best be careful. Or else the couple may sue them in Ireland and make them apologize too.
