Jessica Alba celebrated her 34th birthday on Tuesday, and as with many things in her life these days, she believes simpler is almost always better.

Hubby Cash Warren whipped up some homemade waffles for Jessica Alba on her birthday, and shortly thereafter she was showered with handmade cards and gifts from her children--daughters Honor and Haven Warren.

"That's my favorite thing," she said during an interview with E! News recently. "I love when they make me stuff."

Of course, being a famous actress and Honest Company founder has a few extra benefits. Her husband did spoil her with a special Anita Ko rose gold ring shaped like a panther.

Jessica Alba shared an Instagram collage of her birthday loot.

In a recent interview with More magazine, Jessica Alba admits she's reached a real place of contentment in her life.

"Content is good because I wasn’t always," she said. "I was kind of unsatisfied and angsty. It’s nice shedding the angst."

Since her Honest Company has reached billion dollar status, work has become a bit crazy for Jessica Alba.

"Being an actress is like a vacation; business is relentless," she told More. "People work hard here. It’s nice to be around people who are so committed."

She adds that she expects a lot from her Honest Company employees.

"Sometimes I’m a little more iron fist than velvet glove," she said. "I’m straight to the point. I’ve made people cry. I have to say, 'This isn’t personal. This is what needs to get done, and it’s just as simple as that. And...we’re not crying anymore.' I’m learning to tone myself down."

It sounds like Jessica Alba has found a nice balance in her life--and she knows what's most important, too. The simple things are always the most valuable. But hard work makes for a very promising future. Jessica Alba and her family can certainly enjoy both.
