Jessa Duggar and her sister Joy have spoken out about their brother Josh’s various scandals–which include sexually molesting Jessa and several other sisters when he was 14–and say that while they have forgiven Josh, they can’t trust him yet.
Josh made headlines last May when news broke that he had admitted to molesting his sisters and a family babysitter as a teen and the family kept it to themselves, which outraged fans of the family’s show. 19 Kids And Counting was promptly yanked from TLC’s lineup as they did damage control, but it was short lived; Josh was soon named in another scandal when the Ashley Madison hacks revealed that he had been a member of the cheating site and had been unfaithful to his wife Anna.
“I definitely have forgiven Josh. It is a process, though, that you have to work through in your heart. And trust is not quickly rebuilt. It is something that takes a while. We love him very much, though, and we are very hopeful for the future,” Jessa said.
Jessa and sister Jill have been given their own spinoff show–Counting On–which follows them as they navigate married life and motherhood. However, the rest of the Duggar family has kept a relatively low profile in recent months while Josh attended a rehab facility. Josh’s wife, Anna, said recently that she doesn’t know how to deal with the fallout from Josh’s behavior, and is focusing on the present rather than the future.
“I don’t know what I’m stepping into. I don’t know how to handle each situation. It’s not anything I ever would have thought I would walk through. I tell myself to just do the next right thing, have the next right response for the next 15 minutes,” Anna Duggar said.
Jessa, meanwhile, is staying busy with the show and being a new mom, posting several new photos of her son on Instagram.
