Jeremy Renner likes his privacy and says that he does not want the media to know his every move or much about his personal life.

Rumors that Renner had married his model girlfriend Sonni Pacheco have been swirling for a while now, but neither Renner nor Pacheco were willing to deny or confirm them.

Renner said that he wanted to protect his family from too much attention that he knew his celebrity status would bring if he did address the marriage rumors.

He finally came forward and confirmed that he and Sonni are indeed married.

“I have tried to protect my family’s privacy, my wife’s privacy. I don’t need her to get hammered with my life,” Renner told People on Tuesday.

Sonni is a successful model, and while she is used to being in the spotlight, she is not used to being photographed by the paparazzi, something that can be overwhelming to even the most seasoned celebrity.

Renner explained that he was trying to keep their wedding a secret so that his wife did not have to worry about the unwanted attention and so they could have a private wedding.

“Privacy issues are important because I want her to go about her day without being bothered,” Renner added.

Renner did not offer any details about the wedding ceremony or even give the date that the couple was married. It’s not likely that he will be offering any photos of the wedding either.
