Jennifer Love Hewitt has landed a new role!
According to CBS, Hewitt has signed on to play the role of a Kate Callahan, a seasoned detective who lands a spot in the Behavioral Analysis Unit, on their original series Criminal Minds. The announcement was made on Tuesday that Hewitt would become a series regular on the long-running show.
“We’re thrilled to introduce a new special agent by adding the very talented Jennifer Love Hewitt to our amazing cast,” Criminal Minds’ show runner and executive producer Erica Messer said.
“Many of us on the show have enjoyed working with her over the years and look forward to again,” Messer added. “We have exciting storylines planned for her character and the entire BAU team as we head into our 10th season.”
Hewitt’s fans are hoping that this next project on Criminal Minds will fare better than her last two gigs. After five seasons, from 2005 to 2010, Hewitt’s CBS series Ghost Whisperer was cancelled, and her most recent show, Lifetime’s The Client List, was cancelled after only two seasons.
CBS says that they will be introducing Hewitt’s character during the season ten premiere of Criminal Minds, which is set to air on October 1, 2014 at 9:00 pm. Hewitt will be joining the other cast members – Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore and A.J. Cook.
Hewitt’s other notable works include her time spent of Fox’s Party of Five and the I Know What You Did Last Summer movies.
