Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton’s nude photos that were leaked last weekend will soon be on display at an art gallery in Florida.
Cory Allen Contemporary Art (CACA) in St. Petersburg, Florida, will display artist XVALA’s life-size nude prints of Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, and a slew of other celebrities in their most vulnerable moments.
The exhibit has been a seven year project for the artist. He has dubbed it the “Fear Google” campaign and has collected the images for the upcoming show, which will be called “No Delete”.
Despite understandable outrage from the public and celebrity legal teams declaring that they will prosecute anyone who posts the pictures, XVALA and CACA are going through with the seemingly distasteful project.
Are they doing it for money or publicity? The gallery denies doing it for any other reason than to bring attention to privacy issues.
“We hope the conceptual value of this project will help address issues that will help find better ways to protect an individual’s information,” Cory Allen explained to E!. “To gain back our privacy.”
XVALA backs up that statement saying,
“It’s encouraging to see the outrage in people’s responses to this project we are doing, especially in an age when we give away so much information. It’s great to see people still care about privacy and will stand up for it.”
What remains to be seen is just how far the legal teams of Jennifer Lawrence, and others involved, go to stand up for that privacy?
“This is a flagrant violation of privacy,” Lawrence’s rep said as soon as the photos surfaced. “The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence.”
Do XVALA or CACA fear prosecution? It doesn’t seem so.
“Our goal was not to do anything illegal. It was for XVALA to create art; to follow through with his vision for this project and for me to promote it,” Allen explained. “We have not been contacted by anyone.”
The show opens to the public on October 30th. Hopefully that will give legal teams, like Jennifer Lawrence’s, the time they need to try to stop this from happening.
