Jan Brewer: Imperial Obama Ruining America

Back in 2012, the Obama administration implemented the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA. The memorandum instructed Immigration officials in the United States to practice “prosecutorial discretion” when dealing with illegal immigrants within a certain age range — typically 15 to 30 — who also meet certain criteria.

The result of this action has been that underage immigrants get a two-year reprieve from deportation and are processed into the U.S. where they may choose to pursue legal citizenship means.

To establish eligibility for DACA, individuals must demonstrate that they:

– Were under the age of 31 on June 15, 2012;

– Arrived in the United States before reaching their 16th birthday;

– Continuously resided in the United States from June 15, 2007, to the present;

– Were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2012, as well as at the time of requesting deferred action from USCIS;

– Entered without inspection before June 15, 2012, or any lawful immigration status expired on or before June 15, 2012

– On the date of application, are in school, have graduated or obtained a certificate of completion from high school, have obtained a general education development (GED) certificate, or are honorably discharged veterans of the U.S. Coast Guard or the U.S. Armed Forces;

– Have not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor, or three or more other misdemeanors, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety.

Some see this as a unilateral move by the President to open U.S. borders to immigrants that heretofore would have been turned away, and without Congressional approval.

Sarah Palin is so set against this that she believes that it is cause for impeachment of President Obama.

Now, Governor Jan Brewer of Arizona is chiming in on the issue. Brewer took to her Twitter account to denounce Obama’s action in instituting the DACA as “imperial”.

“Lawless decrees by the President demonstrate animus to Congress, states and the Constitution,” Brewer said in a press release Monday. “It is outrageous, though not entirely surprising, that the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals has once again dealt a blow to Arizona’s ability to enforce its laws.”

“This continues us down a dangerous path in which the courts and the President — not Congress — make our nation’s laws,” she continued. “The ruling is especially disturbing given the current influx of illegal aliens, a crisis President Obama created and escalated.”

Brewer and Obama have had words before. She accused the President of lecturing her when she visited the Oval Office.
