Jamie Lynn Spears, younger sister of singer Britney Spears, was simply out dining with a friend last month when she ended up stopping a brawl. The two were eating in Hammond, Louisiana at the Pita Pit when a fight broke out–right in the middle of the restaurant. Spears’ reaction was questionable at best, however.

E! News reports that somehow Jamie Lynn’s friend found her way into the midst of the people having the fight. Spears “helped her friend from out of the middle of the violent group” before running behind the counter and helping herself to a large knife. She then wielded the knife at the people fighting in an effort to break them up.

Okay. So maybe no one ever explained to Jamie Lynn Spears that calling 911 is a much safer option than going at a group of people who are brawling–with a knife?

Several media outlets have now received footage of the night in question. It clearly depicts Jamie Lynn Spears holding what appears to be a very large knife.

Jack J. Brighenti owns the Hammond Pita Pit location. He spoke with E! News about the incident, saying he was in complete shock.

“I have been with Pita Pit for several years, and have never seen anything like this before,” he said at the time the brawl took place. “The events that happened occurred after 2 a.m. this past Saturday night just before we closed. A group of males got into an altercation and for some reason Jamie Lynn Spears ran behind the counter and picked up a bread knife.”

“Our management called the police immediately and thankfully nothing else happened. Our passion and focus is and always will be to serve the Hammond community healthy pitas!” he added.

Does Jamie Lynn Spears–who incidentally has yet to comment on the situation–have any idea what could have happened had someone taken that knife from her and used it as a weapon–either on the others involved in the fight or even on her? Does she realize she could have been killed? What on earth was she thinking?

It will be interesting to learn what Jamie Lynn Spears was thinking when she wielded that knife. Now that word of the brawl has hit the media, will she try to explain the situation?
