There seems to be nothing that James Franco can’t do. Not only does he star in serious dramas that garner him oscar nominations (“27 Hours”) as well as hilarious comedies that bring even more critical acclaim (“Pineapple Express”, “This Is The End”), but he has even written and directed films.
Of course, that is only when he isn’t busy doing something like working on his PhD in English at Yale. Franco is about as close as modern Hollywood gets to having a Leonardo Da Vinci, a jack-of-all-trades with a sense of humor, dramatic chops, and the intellect to do anything.
With all of that in mind, it should come as no surprise that Franco has been given his own television show by the upstart network Ovation. The show, which will be titled “James Franco Presents,” will be unscripted and will give the viewer an inside look into Franco’s creative life and processes.
The Chief Creative Officer for the network is calling it a “anthology docuseries.” It’s not quite a reality show, and not quite a documentary about Franco. The show will also include insights into the creative worlds of art and film, as well as introduce the viewer to some of its innovators.
With the show Franco will return to television for the first time since the cult hit “Freaks & Geeks” was cancelled due to subpar ratings in 1999. For those of your craving a Franco fix, he will be the guest of honor for the most recent Comedy Central roast, which is set to air on September 2nd.
