Jaime Garcia, a pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, has sustained an injury to his shoulder and was taken out of the game just two innings in on Monday.
Garcia has been taken off the active roster for the team following an MRI which revealed a strained rotator cuff, along with inflammation. Rookie Shelby Miller will be filling in for him, which has some fans worried. But Cardinals manager Mike Mathany attempted to ease those fears, saying he thinks Miller is up to the task.
“With Shelby, I think we’ve seen enough of him to be excited about the opportunity for him to get on the mound,” Matheny said. “I’m not all that concerned. I think a lot of it has to do with the pressure we put on these guys down the stretch. Every game, to us, was playoff-style intensity. It seemed like every game, everything was on the line.”
Garcia won’t be eligible for inclusion on the roster again until the World Series, if the team makes it that far. If his injury persists, he may be replaced by Lance Lynn.
Feel bad for Jaime Garcia, guy knew he was hurt but still wanted to go out there and compete. However Shelby Miller is the TRUTH
