U.S. women’s soccer player Hope Solo was arrested yesterday for allegedly assaulting her sister and nephew.

According to the Kirkland Police Department, officers arrived at the house of Solo’s sister Terry just before 1 am in response to a 911 call that was placed. The caller stated that there was a woman in her home who was hitting and hurting people and refused to leave.

The police found Solo upset and intoxicated, and witnessed injuries on both her sister and her nephew. After speaking with the two apparent victims, the police determined that Solo was the aggressor and charged her with two counts of fourth-degree assault. She is expected to remain in custody until her court hearing tomorrow.

The goalie’s attorney, Todd Maybrown, said that Solo is not in the wrong.

“Hope is not guilty of any crime,” said Maybrown in an email to the Associated Press. “In fact, our investigation reveals that Hope was assaulted and injured during this unfortunate incident. We look forward to the opportunity to present the true facts in court and to having this matter behind Hope very soon.”

Solo, who has won two gold medals with the U.S. women’s soccer team, also plays with the Seattle Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League. The Reign posted its response to the arrest on Twitter.

“We are aware of the situation with Hope and are now gathering information,” the Reign posted on the team’s Twitter feed.

Here’s what else Twitter had to say:

This isn’t the first time Solo has made headlines for her involvement in domestic assault. In November of 2012, Solo’s then fiancé, former Seattle Seahawks tight end Jerramy Stevens, was arrested the night before they were to be married for an altercation between the two.

The star had a lacerated and bloody elbow because of the incident, but Stevens was never charged.

“It’s unfortunate what the media can do to judge before the facts are out there,” Solo stated. “It’s hard to see, but it’s a hard truth, and it’s part of life. I’m happy. I’m happily married. I would never stand for domestic violence. I’ve never been hit in my life.”
