Popular news reader app Flipboard is now letting users make their “magazines” more personal by adding text, images, or links from the web. There’s a new “compose” icon inside the magazine covers. These enable users to ask their readers questions, quote from a story, share thoughts on an article or put it in context, tell readers about changes to the magazine, request co-contributors, add photos from their camera roll, and search the web to add content from within Flipboard itself.
The new functionality is only available on iOS for now, but will hit Android and the web in the future. Readers will be able to see content from the feature regardless of device.

Magazines have recently become more business-friendly with a feature that lets you create private group magazines. This is ideal for work groups who wish to consume very niche and helpful content. The new functionality will presumably improve this experience as well.
In other news, Flipboard competitor Pulse, which is owned by LinkedIn, just launched a new update, which should also be pretty helpful for workplace reading. It utilizes your LinkedIn network to personalize the reading experience.
