Osment said that he was grateful to have such a successful career at such a young age but said that it made things complicated for him as an adult.

“When you’re a kid and you grow up, it takes some time for people to associate you with more things other than that initial thing. So it’s a challenge but I’ve been lucky enough to do a lot of projects recently that are all over the map,” he said. “It’s created a lot of opportunities that I wouldn’t have had otherwise.”

Osment doesn’t work on as many films now as he did when he was a youngster, but he does still enjoy acting and recently appeared in Kevin Smith’s new horror-comedy Tusk.

He said that although he is an adult now, many people still expect him to be the same child actor that he used to be and although he has tried to change their views of him, he says it isn’t possible.

“I think it would be a mistake to consciously try and fight it. I’m very proud of those films. It’s a really happy thing,” he said. “You try and do something to try and shatter that image in people’s minds, it’s kind of not a nice thing to do to your audience. I think I would be trying too hard, you know?”

Osment went on to say that although he doesn’t want to be remembered as the kid from The Sixth Sense, without that film he doubts that he would have had a career at all.
